I don't really do colours.
I recently tried to outfit a LARP character who, in my head, wore many (including clashing) colours. In my wardrobe, amongst all clothes (not ruling anything out on appropriateness) I found: black, purple, olive green, bright red and even a couple of white tops. That was it. Assuming I wanted non-black trousers, that meant I was stuck with olive and I honestly couldn't bear to put bright red next to that, although I kept thinking about it. (I wanted to avoid purple for other reasons.)
I think maybe I managed to get a lot of drawing lessons with sod all colour theory in amongst all of them and thus completely fail at colour coordinating. Combine that with a love for purple and general goth outlook, and you don't get a very colourful wardrobe. Whatever the cause, I just keep getting drawn to clothing in the same (non) colours; it's not a conscious decision.
I learned to knit a while back. A friend taught me the basics when I finally budged and it's something I've occasionally picked up since, as I tend to find it excellent for mental relaxation and recuperation. Still, I was never really a knitter in the same way as the other knitters I know. I didn't purchase any yarn unless it was for a specific project and, even then, it would always only be for my next or current project and I never worked on more than one thing at a time.
Recently, my interest in knitting has peaked. I've been looking at knitting blogs (okay, just the one, really), I have acquired yarn for specific projects further down the line (and had some gifted!), I got myself a large set of interchangeable circular needles... And I've been getting more excited about the whole thing.
The thing that has been really disconcerting was looking appreciatively at bright coloured yarns and considering what I could make out of them. (For me. To wear.)
I blame you, knitting. What is this madness?!
